Our favourite things about Blu-ray

Picture in Picture

‘The Da Vinci Code Blu-ray contains the Picture-In-Picture feature, which allows you to select the aspect of the film you want to learn more about while you watch it. You can find out more about the props, locations, facts, stunts, see story boards and behind the scenes as you’re actually watching the film.’

Pop up menus

‘Put the disc in and the movie plays straight away. You want to change anything like subtitles or soundtrack then you can do it easily and quickly – in fact you can do almost anything from a pop up menu! Why pull yourself away from the movie when you can access everything at anytime? Perfect.’

Picture quality

‘In certain scenes of The Pirates of the Caribbean 3 the picture quality is amazingly crisp and clear; the crew of the ship, the Black Pearl herself, good old Johnny Depp and the ocean are just breathtaking. It makes the action outstanding and the whole experience so much more immersing.’

Huge Capacity

‘I’m greedy. When I buy a film to watch at home, I’ve normally already seen it in the cinema, so what I adore is a wealth of bonus content. I want to see and hear everything – commentary by cast and crew, trailers, deleted material, documentaries, making ofs, bloopers, audition tapes, even music videos of the soundtrack…. and Blu-Ray has the capacity to have it all.’

Sound

‘The opening scene of Slumdog Millionaire, where we see young Jamal and his brother escaping the police through Mumbai’s warren-like slums. I could listen to this over and over. It is the perfect example of what the DTS-HD master Audio Codec is capable of delivering. Everything is mixed perfectly, it sounds extremely realistic and the drums & percussion are hypnotic.’
