The DVD-VIDEO spec allows for up to 9 angles to be included in a video stream (That is the main programme and 8 additional angles).

This opens up a number of possibilities for content including multiple camera angles for music videos and action sequences, demonstrations of visual effects development and translation of onscreen text (Newspaper headlines etc).

Because each angle is multiplexed into one file, there are a number of requirements to ensure compatibility:
  1) All angles in each block must be of the exact same length - only 'seamless branching / multistory' allows for different length angles.

2) All angles must have the same frame size, frame rate and GOP structure (This also means ensuring Automatic Scene Detection is switched OFF in your encoding application).

Your encoded files should also be configured to 'Closed GOP'. 3. The maximum bitrate for your Audio, Video and Sub Pictures combined must not exceed 8Mbps if you have up to 5 angles, 7.5Mbps for 6-8 angles and 7Mbps for 9 angles.
