At 1.2 millimeters, DVDs are the same thickness as CDs, with the main difference being that DVDs are made up of two 0.6 millimeter substrates bonded together.
This allows for a greater rigidity in DVDs over CDs, meaning less 'wobble' occurs when they are spinning and as a result greater reliability for the laser reading.
DVDs are available in four component 'flavours' which can be combined in any number of ways to produce your final product.
Each configuration has a different designation, which roughly equates to the storage available. DVD-5 is the official designation for a Single-Sided, Single-Layered 12 cm DVD. |

DVD-5 has a total storage of 4.37 Gigabytes, which equates to an average run time of 135 minutes.
As a single-sided disc, a number of print options are available for the blank 'label' side.
Both single-layered recordable discs (DVD-R and DVD+R) have the same storage capacity as DVD-5 and as such are ideal for testing DVD-VIDEO Titles before replication.
As long as your DVD-VIDEO Title does not require region encoding or copy protection, 24-7 DVD can accept DVD-R masters for DVD-5 replication jobs.
